Llandybie welcomed a strong Bynea team for this 4B West fixture. With around 20 players unavailable from their ranks the hosts fielded a somewhat patched up side.

Bynea took the lead after five minutes with a converted try by James Keenan, but the hosts reply was immediate. For a penalty the hosts flooded one side of the field but took a tap and moved left to put Aiden Watts in at the corner.

On twenty minutes Bynea built up some attacks to score another try by Kian O’Riley. Llandybie missed a penalty but hard carries by Ryan Davies and Rhys Cann kept up the pressure but the visitors held firm to lead 12 – 5 at half time.

The hosts were struggling again in the scrums but centre Ioan Rees put in some big hits. Prop Scott Jones was injured being flung out of a maul but good work by Rhys Davies, Dafydd Wyn Jones and Jack Gordon created a gap for centre Nate Richards to run in for a try. The easy conversion was missed losing the chance to tie the scores. Connor Butler won some good lineout ball but Bynea’s defence was very organised. From a lineout Bynea moved wide to score through Ben Stelley whilst Llandybie’s attack was not very creative with so many players out of position. Jake Lewis made good territory from clearance kicks and Cellan Ingram tried to run the ball back from full back.

Despite the hosts best efforts and they tried very hard, Bynea ran in two late tries from O’Riley and Luke Daniel to finish comfortable winners by 29 points to 10.

With so many young players and unavailability of players Llandybie is very much a work in progress. Practise makes perfect so the training pitch is the place to go to make those improvements. With the Autumn Internationals coming up, the next game is in December.
