Llang 1

Llandybie welcomed top of the table Llangadog to King George Field for what turned out to be a cracking game of rugby.

Llangadog applied pressure from the off with strong carries from Casper Andersen and Ben Morgan resulting in a try after 6 minutes by Lewis Jones converted by fly half Ceri Williams. Llandybie replied with the ball moved quickly by Jake Lewis and a charge by prop Lloyd Thompson handing to hooker Dafydd Wyn Jones who fended off two opponents to score a try he converted himself to tie the scores after 11 minutes.

With the hosts on the attack a dropped pass picked up by the visitors, going the length of the field to score by Tom Davies converted by Ceri Williams, who kicked a penalty after 20 minutes to move further ahead. Llandybie were dealt a blow losing centre Rhys Evans with a hamstring pull but Dafydd Wyn struck a penalty to keep Llandybie within reach. The visitors again went wide to score from Ben Morgan with Williams again adding the two points. The hosts kept going with carries from Christian Davies and Ryan Davies and a break from Owain James but his pass went to ground and Llangadog reached half time leading 24-10.

With the second half ten minutes in Cian Rhys Owen and Nate Richards combined to launch an attack with Nathaniel Butler and Owain James recycling to put Owain Thomas on a run fending off two opponents to score a nice try converted by Dafydd Wyn to move within a score.

Another wayward pass was picked up by Llangadog to break clear for a score by Lewis Jones and again from a lineout drive soon after by Iestyn Williams both converted by Ceri

Williams to lead 38 -17 after 70 minutes. Llandybie were not done with carries from Ryan Davies, Jack Gordon and Lloyd Thompson. Jake Lewis and Matthew Lemon made good ground to offload to Owain James for a try converted by Dafydd Wyn.

The last eight minutes were all Llandybie hammering into Llangadog trying to get a score to give them 2 losing bonus points. Despite every player putting his hand up to carry and Llangadog continually infringing with no yellow cards the visitors held out to win 38-24.

A great game of rugby with both sides running the ball, the difference being the two dropped passes by the hosts resulting in tries for the visitors. Both Ceri Williams and Dafydd Wyn Jones had 100% with the boot. Llandybie’s best performance this season but Llangadog were worth their win.

MOM for Llandybie was No 8 Ryan Davies, always going forward breaking the gain line.
