


From the first scrum Llandybie picked up putting the ball through hands with Ioan Rees giving he pass to full back Iestyn Richards to dive in at the corner to lead after five minutes.
Penybanc had a penalty in front but somehow struck the upright with hooker Dafydd Wyn Jones clearing his lines. From a Penybanc attack Llandybie cleared with a long kick. Penybanc’s clearance was charged down by winger Aiden Watts who picked up to dive over for a try converted by Dafydd Wyn Jones to lead 12 – 0 after 15 minutes.
Penybanc replied with a number of forward drives to eventually force their way over with a try by Tanner Evans. Llandybie missed a penalty but Dafydd Wyn kicked another after a high tackle. Iestyn Richards put in another big clearance kick and the hosts led 15 – 5 at half time.
The play was to and fro with both sides showing good line speed. Scrum half Steffan Jones gave good service to his forwards with carries from Ryan Davies and Cristian Davies and some heavy tackles from Ioan Rees, Rhys Cann and Mathew Guerin. The hosts increased their lead with another penalty by Dafydd Wyn after another high tackle. Both sided saw yellows for high tackles and back chat with Penybanc getting a red for a high tackle.
The visitors replied with a number of sustained attacks repelled by the hosta but continued pressure gave a score to Gethin Harries with the score 18 – 10. Jake Lewis broke the line as did Mathew Guerin but the Penybanc cover did its job. Another heavy tackle by Rees caused a Banc knock on and Lewis and Richards did well with good clearance kicks to peg Penybanc back. Banc scored a late try by Dominic Marshall which he converted to bring Penybanc within a point. With three mnutes left Banc threw everything at the hosts who defended to a man to just edge the victory.
Ioan Rees was Llandybie’s MOM with scrum half Steffan Jones also having a fine match. This result moves Llandybie up one place in the table with their next match at home against Cefneithin on 3 January.
